1. Take out time for meditation (15 minutes/Day)
In times when everything goes south, it makes sense to take a pause and revaluate your position. Meditation is long believed to be an effective way to focus on the necessary and minus the distractions that plagues us. Apart from its many physical benefits it helps us regulate our neurochemical process which in turn reduces anxiety and depression leading to an increase in critical thinking capabilities. Sitting in silence first of all will seem awkward but as soon as you will progress you will realize all sorts of truth and capabilities hidden inside of you. It is a time and tested method & maybe the reason of positivity of many who walk amongst us.
2. Finding gratitude
Being more mindful and aware of our failures and the negative is a natural human tendency. We as humans are more receptive of the negative than the positive and this can only be changed through a conscience effort. To keep a balance of these feelings it is suggested to keep once a week journal to list down things that one is thankful for and why, in life. This exercise will make sure that all those happy moments around you don’t go unnoticed.
3. Make books your confidante
Reading is considered to be the best utilization of one’s time as it nudges & stimulates the mind like no other form of information. This provides you with the necessary mental exercise which is crucial for your healthy wellbeing. Snuggling up with a good read tamps down levels of unhealthy stress hormones & overall motivates you to be positive. Studies have found that an average reader is overall more optimistic in its outlook than a non-reader.
4. Positive reaffirmation on a loop
Yes, you read write ! What is a reaffirmation ? All we are referring to is assure and re-affirm yourself that you are there for a reason and you deserve it even if you have to repeat the drill a gazillion times. There is a very scientific reason to it. Messages and statements which resonate loosely in your head if re affirmed trains the brain to believe that they are statements of truth. If you have the confidence go in front of a mirror and speak your mind however, if you feel self conscious than surely internalise and affirm silently. Choose two to three affirmations that represent your values and goals, such as ‘I can handle whatever comes my way,’ ‘There is plenty of time,’ or ‘I’m getting better every day.’ The repetition will influence the way you interpret negative events, making you more resilient. Especially if you’re predisposed to negative thinking, this can be extremely effective.
5. Follow the road to your passion
One of the greatest things you can do to stay positive throughout each day is to make sure you’re doing what you LOVE! If your job or hobby involves something that makes you feel guilty, or something that takes you further from where you desire to be in life, it’s time to switch it up.
Write down three things you love to do, followed by three positive changes you’d like to see in the world. Compare this to your current lifestyle and see how they match. Being in alignment with what your soul calls for is one of the most important aspects of staying positive throughout life – trust us, it makes it a WHOLE lot easier!
